Malaysia Canada Business Council

Mission Statement: The MCBC provides a forum for networking, promotion and information sharing and represents the interests of its members, serving as a catalyst for further trade and investment between Canada and Malaysia.

The Malaysia Canada Business Council (MCBC) is a private, non-profit organization that was established on October 30, 1989 to provide a forum for the discussion and exchange of views on business conditions and issues, both domestic and international, affecting Malaysian and Canadian firms and personnel. The MCBC membership consists of Canadian companies operating in Malaysia, Malaysian companies with economic ties to Canada, and educators, professionals, and individuals with links to Canada.

The MCBC is governed by a president, vice-president, and a board of governors elected by the members. MCBC's standing committees identify issues that become the focus of the Council's activities. The MCBC Secretariat coordinates the Council's activities.

Objectives

To promote bilateral trade, technology transfer, services, and investment between Canada and Malaysia.
To provide a forum for ideas, opportunities, and personal contacts that will promote education, trade, commerce, and industry between the two countries.
To support and represent the interests of the membership, including liaison with the governments of Canada and Malaysia.
To provide information and assistance to Malaysian firms seeking to do business in Canada.
To provide information and assistance to Canadian firms seeking to do business in Malaysia.
To foster a better understanding and appreciation between the social and business communities of the two countries.
To support other interest groups which could help the Council meet its objectives.

Activities
The MCBC's regular activities are the organization of monthly luncheon meetings and other special events such as the 2004 Business Excellence Award, production of the quarterly magazine “The Bridge”, representing members' concerns at government dialogues, and developing local business contacts for members.
